The Christ

A CONTEMPLATIVE MOMENT

“Therefore God has highly exalted Jesus [him] and bestowed on Jesus [him] the nature [name] that is above every nature [name], so that at the nature [name] of the CHRIST [Jesus] every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that [Jesus] the CHRIST is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”(Philippians 2:9-11, ESV, as edited for mystical study.)
😊

THE CHRIST or Christ Consciousness is Lord, one with God the Father. The man who was Jesus or Yeshua of Nazareth is an “exalted” (that is, “raised in rank, power, or character” per Merriam-Webster Dictionary) manifestation or expression of THE CHRIST just as you and I are, as we humanly shall become, upon the realization of Christhood — our real and true nature in THE CHRIST.

We are THE CHRIST in Spirit, have always been and shall always be. But it serves us no beneficial life experience until and unless this truth is realized in individual consciousness.

Let me now paraphrase the quoted scripture passage as it applies to you at the mystical level of understanding:

“Therefore God has highly exalted you and bestowed on you the nature of THE CHRIST that is above every nature, so that at the nature of THE CHRIST every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that you, being THE CHRIST, are Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

🤩

The realization of Christhood or enlightenment is not difficult, but many spiritual teachers make it so for one reason or another. The only thing you need to know and to understand correctly is what it is and how to go about it. And only a pure, authentic contemporary mystical teaching can do that for you.

Christ Consciousness refers to enlightenment or the realization of our oneness with all and our inherent divinity, exemplified by Jesus Christ.

Jesus lived what he taught, and he taught from a higher state of consciousness, one free of ego. Jesus was an example of what we all can be, a model of what is possible for every human being, and he said as much. His message was that we, too, can be Christed—enlightened—as he was, and many are living proof of this today. Many are awakening to their true nature, and enlightenment is the culmination, or endpoint, of that process of awakening.

Jesus Christ, like other enlightened masters, was able to transmit universal Source energy to others because he was enlightened. It was not his energy that was transmitted. Rather, because he was enlightened, he was able to be an instrument of the universal energy that comes from Source, or God: the Oneness.  Spiritual forces and Ascended Masters such as Jesus channel this universal Source energy to those on earth who are able to transmit it to others. Transmission is one of the main ways consciousness is raised and human evolution is advanced. Transmission may seem mysterious, but we don’t have to understand it or even feel it to be transformed by it. That we can be affected by certain people in this way is a gift from Source to aid us in returning Home.

Contemplating The Gospel of Thomas

FeaturedNag Hammadi Codices

The Gospel of Thomas is a gnostic document that is part of the Nag Hammadi Library that was discovered in the middle of the last century. The Gospel consists of purported sayings by Jesus (Yeshua) the Christ.

Here are some of the more mystical passages from the Gospel as translated by Thomas O. Lambdin. They make excellent material for spiritual contemplation (contemplative meditation or passage meditation). Select one of the sayings that resonates in your heart or feeling level, and spend some time in silent contemplation of what the saying’s meaning is being communicated to you at a deeply felt soul level.

At the end of the post is a relevant video of Elaine Pagels’ lecture delivered at the Vanderbilt Divinity School Cole Lecture.

(2) Jesus said, “Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the All.

(3) Jesus said, “If those who lead you say to you, ‘See, the kingdom is in the sky,’ then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, ‘It is in the sea,’ then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty.

(9) Jesus said, “Now the sower went out, took a handful (of seeds), and scattered them. Some fell on the road; the birds came and gathered them up. Others fell on the rock, did not take root in the soil, and did not produce ears. And others fell on thorns; they choked the seed(s) and worms ate them. And others fell on the good soil and it produced good fruit: it bore sixty per measure and a hundred and twenty per measure.

(20) The disciples said to Jesus, “Tell us what the kingdom of heaven is like.”
He said to them, “It is like a mustard seed. It is the smallest of all seeds. But when it falls on tilled soil, it produces a great plant and becomes a shelter for birds of the sky.

(70) Jesus said, “That which you have will save you if you bring it forth from yourselves. That which you do not have within you will kill you if you do not have it within you.

(77) Jesus said, “It is I who am the light which is above them all. It is I who am the all. From me did the all come forth, and unto me did the all extend. Split a piece of wood, and I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there.

(113) His disciples said to him, “When will the kingdom come?”
It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying ‘here it is’ or ‘there it is.’ Rather, the kingdom of the father is spread out upon the earth, and men do not see it.

Below is the lecture given by religion scholar Elaine Pagels, titled “New Reflections on Gospel Traditions: the Gospel of John and the Gospel of Thomas” which sheds illumination on the preceding quotations from the Gospel of Thomas. There is, also, a video of an informative class lecture given by a Yale University professor, Dale B. Martin, on the Gospel of Thomas.

          Never Too Busy for God

          FeaturedWhite Tara painting image.

One can never be too busy to practice the Presence of God in one’s life, especially when you know and realize that the life you are living is truly God’s life. ☺️

Chamtrul Rinpoche’s advice below involves a very simple spiritual practice known in the Christian mystical tradition as “Practicing the Presence of God.” It partakes the nature of a “contemplative meditation” as it is known in The Infinite Way, where you silently contemplate on the letter of truth or the principles of the mystical teaching.

However, although it is similar to doing the same contemplative activity you would normally do in a prolonged meditation sitting, this practice is done for the briefest duration of a very abbreviated period of time, say one to three minutes of your time, anywhere you may be, at anytime of the day or night, in the midst of any activity, as frequently as you can do so during your waking hours. As a minimum for starters, do it thrice daily: immediately upon rising from bed in the morning, at noontime, and just before going to sleep at night. Then build up gradually on the frequency of times that you perform it until you are doing it most if not all the time.

Life can never be way too busy for the dedicated spiritual aspirant to practice the presence of God. You can become constantly aware of God Presence within you and around you. You are never too busy for God. 🙂

Some people say that they are too busy to practice the Dharma. But if they want to, they can turn every aspect of their life to the path, no matter where they are, or what they are doing. It is OK to be busy. But be busy with the Dharma.

          Enlightenment Is Your Nature

          Featured

Enlightenment is your natural state.  Do not seek for it elsewhere.  But “go within” to experience it.
          🙂

Painting of Yogini Copulating with Boddhisattva

Look into the awakened mind of your own awareness! It has neither form nor color, neither center nor edge. At first, it has no origin but is empty. Next, it has no dwelling place but is empty. At the end, it has no destination but is empty. This emptiness is not made of anything and is clear and cognizant. When you see this and recognize it, you know your natural face. You understand the nature of things. You have then seen the nature of mind, resolved the basic state of reality and cut through doubts about topics of knowledge.

This awakened mind of awareness is not made out of any material substance; it is self-existing and inherent in yourself. This is the nature of things that is easy to realize because it is not to be sought for elsewhere. This is the nature of mind that does not consist of a concrete perceiver and something perceived to fixate on. It defies the limitations of permanence and annihilation. In it there is no thing to awaken; the awakened state of enlightenment is your own awareness that is naturally awake. In it there is no thing that goes to the hells; awareness is naturally pure. In it there is no practice to carry out; its nature is naturally cognizant. This great view of the natural state is present in yourself: resolve that it is not to be sought for elsewhere.
