The Consciousness Manifesto

REFLECT ON THIS

Your outer life experience of the world reflects the inner state of consciousness you embody in your mind.

The inner state of consciousness determines the outer experience of life. As within, so without. As above, so below. 😳

Contrary to many metaphysical or “new age” teachings, there is no law of attraction operating in life or in the mind. The mind is a mirror to consciousness. It merely reflects back the corresponding image-form of the state of consciousness that is placed and held before the mind. You do not attract the things, forms or effects in your life whether you judge them to be good or bad based on how you are experiencing your perception of them. Rather, your mind manifests or shows the reflection of the level and state of consciousness that you are. And that reflection is what you perceive invariably as your external experience in life.

There is NO attraction between you, on the one hand, and the people and things in your life, on the other hand. There is only a reflection in the mind of the consciousness that you are. People, things and conditions that are not part of your present state of consciousness will have no corresponding reflection in your mind-body continuum, and therefore, will NOT be part of your personal experience of life, even though they may be your desired good. This explains why and how we experience lack and limitation in life.

Furthermore, if the mind you are functioning with is “clouded” by your human conditioning or your human belief system — meaning to say, that your mind is bereft of spiritual clarity or spiritual illumination (i.e., unenlightened), — your mind will not be able to reflect the inherent goodness and perfection that exists at the core essence of people and things. As a result, our experience becomes disruptive of the wholeness and the harmony underlying everything — what we then consider to be “evil” in our human experience.

The old Newtonian teaching on the nature of gravity as an attracting force operating between two material objects is not tenable in Albert Einstein’s modern theory of relativity. Under Einstein’s physics, gravity is interpreted to mean the indentation in the space-time continuum caused by the mass of an object. It is this “bending” of the space-time continuum or the “warping” in the fabric of space-time continuum that causes things of a lesser mass to come within the gravitational purview or captive influence of the object with the greater mass.

Before Einstein, space seemed featureless and changeless, as Isaac Newton had defined it two centuries earlier. And time, Newton declared, flowed at its own pace, oblivious to the clocks that measured it. But Einstein looked at space and time and saw a single dynamic stage — spacetime — on which matter and energy strutted, generating sound and fury, signifying gravity.

Newton’s law of gravity had united the earthly physics of falling apples with the cosmic dances of planets and stars. But he couldn’t explain how, and he famously refused to try. It took an Einstein to figure out gravity’s true modus operandi. Gravity, Einstein showed, did not just make what goes up always come down. Gravity made the universe go ’round.

Gravity’s secrets succumbed to Einstein’s general theory of relativity, unveiled in a series of papers submitted a century ago this November to the Prussian Academy in Berlin. A decade earlier, his special theory of relativity had merged matter with energy while implying the unity of space and time (soon to be christened as spacetime). After years of struggle, Einstein succeeded in showing that matter and spacetime mutually interact to mimic Newton’s naïve idea that masses attract each other. Gravity, said Einstein, actually moved matter along the curving pathways embodied in spacetime — paths imprinted by mass and energy themselves. As expressed decades later by the physicist John Archibald Wheeler, mass grips spacetime, telling it how to curve, and spacetime grips mass, telling it how to move.

Space-Time Gravity Curvature
Gravity is the curvature in the Space-Time Continuum made by the mass of an object.

So, what are we to make of the new physics in terms of bringing good and more good into our experience? How do we spiritually bend or warp the fabric of the mind’s space-time continuum? How do we spiritually grow the mass of Truth in consciousness by which we curve the space-time continuum of the mind?

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33, KJV)

Instead of trying to “attract” good into our lives, we work on realizing the consciousness of Truth or God-consciousness. That is what the Master Yeshua (Jesus) meant when he instructed us to “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.” Our inner realization becomes the “curvature” in our mind-body continuum by which and into which our good — the “added things” — naturally falls into its gravitational orbit around us. Our realization of Truth enables that Truth to become reflected in the mirror of our minds as our experience.

We make a life project out of this spiritual business of God-realization. Here is how we go about our project to accomplish its goal.

First, we introduce the light of Truth into our awareness: This is why we go to the Truth teaching or the Dharma in Buddhist parlance. We study its mystical teaching to learn its principles correctly. We allocate a part of our resources, time and effort in reading mystical literature mindfully, in listening to or learning from an authentic spiritual teacher (not to pseudomystics and charlatans), and in associating with people who are also traveling the mystical path of life.

Then, we adopt and cultivate a spiritual practice that can effectively and efficiently enable us to contemplate the Truth principles in the quietness of our minds and, more importantly, in the silence and stillness of our hearts: We set aside sufficient time during our 24-hour day to sit patiently in the meditation state of mind. We commit to our practice, and we try no matter what.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (Matthew 6:6, KJV)

Undoubtedly our life project is very different from the metaphysical, “new age” and prosperity teachings commonly found in the marketplace of spiritual ideas. Our project does not deal with positive thoughts or affirmations, visualization techniques, or other such methods for mining good from the world. We follow Yeshua’s simple advice to us who would be followers of the Christ as he was. We undertake our project in consciousness using only the reflective quality of the mirror mind for our tool. We work the inner to bring forth the fruits of realized consciousness in the outer. We start above in God’s heaven to shape the earth below.

All good is within us, as us. Let’s bring it out from within us. All peace is within us, as our life and being. Let’s bring it out to the troubled world outside us. ☺️

The Christ

A CONTEMPLATIVE MOMENT

“Therefore God has highly exalted Jesus [him] and bestowed on Jesus [him] the nature [name] that is above every nature [name], so that at the nature [name] of the CHRIST [Jesus] every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that [Jesus] the CHRIST is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”(Philippians 2:9-11, ESV, as edited for mystical study.)
😊

THE CHRIST or Christ Consciousness is Lord, one with God the Father. The man who was Jesus or Yeshua of Nazareth is an “exalted” (that is, “raised in rank, power, or character” per Merriam-Webster Dictionary) manifestation or expression of THE CHRIST just as you and I are, as we humanly shall become, upon the realization of Christhood — our real and true nature in THE CHRIST.

We are THE CHRIST in Spirit, have always been and shall always be. But it serves us no beneficial life experience until and unless this truth is realized in individual consciousness.

Let me now paraphrase the quoted scripture passage as it applies to you at the mystical level of understanding:

“Therefore God has highly exalted you and bestowed on you the nature of THE CHRIST that is above every nature, so that at the nature of THE CHRIST every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that you, being THE CHRIST, are Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

🤩

The realization of Christhood or enlightenment is not difficult, but many spiritual teachers make it so for one reason or another. The only thing you need to know and to understand correctly is what it is and how to go about it. And only a pure, authentic contemporary mystical teaching can do that for you.

Christ Consciousness refers to enlightenment or the realization of our oneness with all and our inherent divinity, exemplified by Jesus Christ.

Jesus lived what he taught, and he taught from a higher state of consciousness, one free of ego. Jesus was an example of what we all can be, a model of what is possible for every human being, and he said as much. His message was that we, too, can be Christed—enlightened—as he was, and many are living proof of this today. Many are awakening to their true nature, and enlightenment is the culmination, or endpoint, of that process of awakening.

Jesus Christ, like other enlightened masters, was able to transmit universal Source energy to others because he was enlightened. It was not his energy that was transmitted. Rather, because he was enlightened, he was able to be an instrument of the universal energy that comes from Source, or God: the Oneness.  Spiritual forces and Ascended Masters such as Jesus channel this universal Source energy to those on earth who are able to transmit it to others. Transmission is one of the main ways consciousness is raised and human evolution is advanced. Transmission may seem mysterious, but we don’t have to understand it or even feel it to be transformed by it. That we can be affected by certain people in this way is a gift from Source to aid us in returning Home.

Contemplating The Gospel of Thomas

Nag Hammadi Codices

The Gospel of Thomas is a gnostic document that is part of the Nag Hammadi Library that was discovered in the middle of the last century. The Gospel consists of purported sayings by Jesus (Yeshua) the Christ.

Here are some of the more mystical passages from the Gospel as translated by Thomas O. Lambdin. They make excellent material for spiritual contemplation (contemplative meditation or passage meditation). Select one of the sayings that resonates in your heart or feeling level, and spend some time in silent contemplation of what the saying’s meaning is being communicated to you at a deeply felt soul level.

At the end of the post is a relevant video of Elaine Pagels’ lecture delivered at the Vanderbilt Divinity School Cole Lecture.

(2) Jesus said, “Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the All.

(3) Jesus said, “If those who lead you say to you, ‘See, the kingdom is in the sky,’ then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, ‘It is in the sea,’ then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty.

(9) Jesus said, “Now the sower went out, took a handful (of seeds), and scattered them. Some fell on the road; the birds came and gathered them up. Others fell on the rock, did not take root in the soil, and did not produce ears. And others fell on thorns; they choked the seed(s) and worms ate them. And others fell on the good soil and it produced good fruit: it bore sixty per measure and a hundred and twenty per measure.

(20) The disciples said to Jesus, “Tell us what the kingdom of heaven is like.”
He said to them, “It is like a mustard seed. It is the smallest of all seeds. But when it falls on tilled soil, it produces a great plant and becomes a shelter for birds of the sky.

(70) Jesus said, “That which you have will save you if you bring it forth from yourselves. That which you do not have within you will kill you if you do not have it within you.

(77) Jesus said, “It is I who am the light which is above them all. It is I who am the all. From me did the all come forth, and unto me did the all extend. Split a piece of wood, and I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there.

(113) His disciples said to him, “When will the kingdom come?”
It will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying ‘here it is’ or ‘there it is.’ Rather, the kingdom of the father is spread out upon the earth, and men do not see it.

Below is the lecture given by religion scholar Elaine Pagels, titled “New Reflections on Gospel Traditions: the Gospel of John and the Gospel of Thomas” which sheds illumination on the preceding quotations from the Gospel of Thomas. There is, also, a video of an informative class lecture given by a Yale University professor, Dale B. Martin, on the Gospel of Thomas.

          An Abuse Enabler’s Teaching

The following insightful interview of Jon Meacham on the TV program The View is the motivational background of this blog.

[Acknowledgments to The View for publishing the video above on YouTube.]

This “turning of the other cheek” is an abuse enabler’s teaching that has allowed the victimization of numerous individuals and groups and their abuse by wrongdoers, oppressors and persecutors of various kinds for centuries, particularly in the Christian religious culture.

The perpetration of victimization and abuse continues to this very day in the 21st century in both subtle and overt ways. Oftentimes the advice to “turn the other cheek” is sugar-coated and sweetened with overtones of spiritual meekness or religious piety and obedience.

But the sad truth is that such an enabler teaching has facilitated the abuse of people not only by lay wrongdoers but also by Church institution clergymen who desire to keep their flocks in a perpetual steady state of helpless docile submission for exploitation by them in pursuit of their religious agenda or personal motives. I doubt if the Church’s ⛪ interpretation and use of the expression is an actual or true teaching of the real Jesus or would have been how the real Jesus meant it to be if it were indeed a part of his teachings.

Jesus was a person of immense self-esteem and self-respect, a solid man of true character, not a wimp of a man. Under no circumstance would he have been an enabler of personal victimization and abuse to his disciples and followers. The fact is that there are a number of things that the early Christian church has made Jesus out to be which he is not: Foremost of this misguided assertions is the doctrinal teaching that Jesus alone is exclusively the Son of God by nature. Truth is, we, too, — every self-aware human being that has ever been born into the human race — are the Son of God as much as Jesus was, and continues to be, the Son of God.

George Orwell on “Turning the Other Cheek”

What to do then if we find ourselves in a testy situation that could be easily hashtagged as a “turn your other cheek” moment? I submit that we call out the abuser, and we put him/her in place. We should do the same to the abuse enabler if such an enabler’s active influence is at work behind the scene. Clearly at point are the sexual abusers from members of the clergy and the church hierarchy who enable and hide their abusiveness.

We are living now in the 21st century 2018 AD/CE, friends. Enough of the religious bullshit and lies that keep us shackled to the bondage of our human condition. And that, is a definite RANT by me.
